To show similarities and differences students participated in an activity where they approached a line marked on the floor when a question asked by their teacher applied to them. The activity provided a visual reminder based on non-intrusive questions ranging from their favorite cereal, to feeling peer-pressure, and finally a unifying action of everyone being a part of the OHMS family.
Students learned about discrimination and wrote down a situation when they, or someone close to them, were treated unfairly or unequally. They then taped the small brightly colored papers to the Wall of Intolerance located at the base of the lunch room hallway. Over the next few days a separate wall called the Wall of Tolerance was constructed next to the former wall. Students took a situation brick from the Wall of Intolerance and respectfully wrote down ways for the other student to combat discrimination using strategies of Speaking Up, Giving Information, Refusing to Participate, and Taking Action.
To end Diversity Week we had a Mix It Up lunch. Students were given a colored card that corresponded to a colored balloon attached to the tables. Students were encouraged to talk to someone they didn’t know at their balloon. If they provided their colored card answering some questions about their new acquaintance they were rewarded with a prize.
It's already that time of year! Registration for the 2018-2019 school year is in full swing. It is time to start thinking about the classes you would like to take next year!

Students will be given instructions on what they need to do to register for classes in an assembly in January and February.
The following are the scheduled dates for the registration assemblies during students TA class:
8th Grade Registration - Thursday, February 1st
9th Grade Registration - Wednesday, January 30th
Incoming 7th Grade Students for the 2018-2019 school year were invited to attend our Rah-Rah assembly on January 25th. We have been coordinating with your school (Riverton, Rosamond, Southland, Jordan Ridge, and Westland) to have you come over to OHMS for the assembly. If you are off track (D Track) you are welcome to come with your parents to the Rah- Rah! You are responsible to provide your own transportation to and from OHMS.
We invite students and parents back to OHMS that evening (January 25th) for a registration evening event. You can pick up your students 7th grade registration packet and will receive important information regarding how to register

Utah CTE Video Contest
Who: The contest is open to secondary CTE students. Students can enter individually or as a group.
What: Create a short video (90 seconds to 3 minutes) highlighting what you are learning in your CTE classes, CTSOs, work-based learning experiences, CTE internships, or in CTE concurrent enrollment classes.
When: Entries accepted now through Monday, March 5, 2018
Why: Videos will be featured on the UTah CTE Month webpage and via social media to promote CTE programs throughout Utah.
